Resident Evil fans have adopted a Love & Deepspace character as the son of Leon S. Kennedy and one of his potential spouses

In an intersection of my particular interests that I most certainly didn't have on my 2026 bingo card, fans of the Resident Evil franchise – and in particular its recently-released ninth main entry, Resident Evil Requiem – have suddenly become obsessed with a very different favourite of mine: sci-fi otome gacha mobile game Love and Deepspace. Steam is abuzz this week with a couple of long-anticipated launches, but in Forza Horizon 6’s case, at least, the game isn’t even out for what will be most of its players. Captivating cosmic megastructure adventure game Hypnos leaves early access next week, offering up a world I'm desperate to dig into further

I just love me a megastructure, I do. I'm not entirely sure why, to be honest. My best guess is that growing up in a major city with concrete pillars looming over me higher into the sky than I care to take notice of, perhaps even threatening me, left me with a sense of awe towards that which exists at a scale I can't really comprehend. With that, I was quite quickly hooked on whatever Hypnos was putting down, even if when I first had a go at it I couldn't quite tell you what was going on. And now, after a stint in early access, the eldritch "megastructure fever dream," is launching into 1.0 in

Wake up. There's Half-Life 3 chatter occurring again. This time because, about an hour into a panel about sounds in video games, a Valve composer has uttered three eyebrow-raising letters. HLX. In an industry rife with acronyms, what's so special about this one? Well, it's a rumoured codename for the next entry in the aforementioned series about a man with a crowbar, for one. Read more

Helldivers 3 "only makes sense" if it’s so unlike Helldivers 2 "that both games can exist side by side", says Arrowhead boss, discussing their new prototype game

Arrowhead Game Studios will only make a Helldivers 3 if it's lightyears apart in style from Helldivers 2, or if Helldivers 2's playercount falls through the floor. This is my takeaway, at least, from a recent chat with Johan Pilestedt, chief creative officer, in which Pilestedt touched briefly on the studio's next unannounced game, while assuring me that there are still no plans for a Helldiver threequel. Arkane survival negotiations reportedly seeing "several forms of takeover" considered ahead of November deadline, as Marvel's Blade production nears end

Negotiations over the future of Dishonored and Deathloop developers Arkane Lyon are reportedly seeing "several forms of takeover" considered as a November deadline looms for the divorce Xbox set in motion back in July. French law makes the process of shuttering or chucking away studios a lot harder for companies like Microsoft than it is elsewhere in the world, hence Arkane's fate still being up in the air while production work on Marvel's Blade nears completion according to the report. COD: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ players are spawning in the middle of a road and being flattened before they can do anything

Infinity Ward opened up early access to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's DMZ extraction mode overnight, meaning anyone who has pre-ordered a copy can now play the game's campaign as well as DMZ. And while early reactions to DMZ are fairly positive, there's one issue in particular, which a number of players have experienced, that has the capability of ending a round as soon as it begins. It's been 19 years since the release of Half-Life 2: Episode 2, and yet the ceaseless clamour for a Valve game with a number '3' in its title continues. What we've been playing - "Shoving Moon Flesh into an alien grandma's mouth"

Hello, it is me, your regular weekend host Mertie and I am here once again to guide you gently into Saturday with our usual feature What We've Been Playing, where we write a little about the games we've been, yes, playing. This week, Bertie - before fleeing for a well-deserved break and leaving me with the keys to the place - runs a one-on-one D&D game; Connor plays with his Moon Flesh in Warframe, and I've been serenely gallivanting over yonder hills.
